HE WHO SOWS RIGHTEOUSNESS WILL HAVE A SURE REWARD

(I) UNDERSTANDING THE CONCEPT OF SOWING RIGHTEOUSNESS

“…But he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward.” Proverbs 11:18

1. Sowing righteousness may be compared to sowing a seed

2. The seed has symbolic representation

3. The seed can grow into a tree.

a) A tree of kindness

b) A tree of graciousness

4. The tree would remain after the seed is long gone

5. The tree can perpetuate further with more seeds and trees

(II) THE CONCEPT OF SOWING ROGHTEOUSNESS IS FOUND BOTH IN THE NEW AND OLD TESTAMENT

1. Old Testament Understanding

“…But he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward.” Proverbs 11:18

a) Obvious choice and consequence

b) Strong and deep repercussion

2. New Testament Understanding

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” Galatians 6:7

a) The origin of principle – God

b) The need for accountability

(III) THE CHALLENGE TO BE THE PERSON WHO SOWS RIGHTEOUSNESS

1. Sowing deeds of righteousness

a) Gracious deeds ( Proverbs 11:16 )

b) Merciful deeds ( Proverbs 11:17 )

2. Not being weary in doing good

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Galatians 6:9

3. Taking opportunity to do good

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10

(IV) THE SURE REWARDS OF SOWING RIGHTEOUSNESS

1. Joy

2. Goodness

The merciful man does good for his own soul…” Proverbs 11:17

3. Life

As righteousness leads to life…” Proverbs 11:19

4. Reciprocity

“…And he who waters will also be watered himself.” Proverbs 11:25
