GIVE YOUR STRENGTH TO YOUR SERVANT

1. A prayer of David

2. A prayer for strength

a. Not human strength
b. But divine strength

THE NEED FOR DIVINE STRENGTH IN THE PROBLEMS OF LIFE

1. Near death experiences

“… from the depths of Sheol”   Psalm 86:13

2. People who seek to do us harm

“O God, the proud have risen against me”   Psalm 86:14

3. Deep problems

a. Problems that we cannot handle with our own human strength
b. Divine strength is badly needed

FINDING DIVINE STRENGTH IN PRAYER

How should we pray?

1. Honestly

a. We are weak
b. We are fearful

2. Humbly

a. Praying as servants
b. Praying for God to be merciful

3. Habitually

“For I cry to You all the day long”   Psalm 86:3

ASSURANCE OF PRAYER BEING ANSWERED

1. Will God hear? Yes!

2. Because of who He is   (Psalm 86:5)

a. Good
b. Ready to forgive
c. Abundant in mercy to those who call upon Him

3. A further development of who God is   (Psalm 86:15)

a. Full of compassion
b. Gracious
c. Longsuffering
d. Abundant in mercy
