(I) KNOWLEDGE OF GOD’S WILL

1. In salvation’s plan (Ephesians 1)

a) According to His will ( Ephesians 1:5 )

b) According to His grace ( Ephesians 1:7 )

c) According to His power ( Ephesians 1:19 )

2. In God’s service

“making request if, by some means, now at last I may find a way in the will of God to come to you.” Romans 1:10

a) To be prayed for

b) To have God making it possible

c) To find a way to serve

(II) PREPARATION FOR MINISTRY

1. Knowledge of the Romans

Well known faith ( Romans 1:8 )

2. Prayer for the Romans

Ministry of prayer for the Romans ( Romans 1:9 )

3. Potential ministry

a) Impartation of spiritual gifts ( Romans 1:11a )

b) Establishment of faith ( Romans 1:11b )

c) Mutual encouragement ( Romans 1:12 )

d) Bearing fruit ( Romans 1:13c )

(III) OPPOSITION TO MINISTRY

“Now I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that I often planned to come to you (but was hindered until now), that I might have some fruit among you also, just as among the other Gentiles.Romans 1:13

1. Human hindrance

By the enemies of Paul who were opposed to his ministry and his message ( 1 Thessalonians 2:14-16 )

2. Satanic hindrance

Spiritual battle ( Ephesians 6:10-18 )

(IV) APPROPRIATE RESPONSES

1. To wait on the Lord for His will to be revealed

2. To pray for the Lord’s will to be done

3. To ready oneself for ministry
