Day 95

"He shall speak peace to the nations"

Text: Zechariah 9:10

THE DOMINION OF THE MESSIANIC KING

The Messianic King would be different in many ways. He would not be like the kings that Israel had known.

“I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim
And the horse from Jerusalem;
The battle bow shall be cut off.
He shall speak peace to the nations;
His dominion shall be ‘from sea to sea,
And from the River to the ends of the earth.'”
Zechariah 9:10

1. The cessation of war

a) Ephraim represented Israel, the northern kingdom.
b) Jerusalem represented Judah, the southern kingdom.
c) They would no longer battle each other.
i) Ephraim boasted of its chariots.
ii) Judah took pride in their horses.
iii) The chariot and horse represented weapons of destruction.
iv) God would cut off (destroy) their pride and dependence on these things.

2. A message of Peace

a) He would first bring peace to the Northern and Southern kingdoms.
b) They would no longer be divided. They would be one nation and at peace.
c) This message of peace would be proclaimed far and wide effectively.

3. The people who would receive this message of peace

a) The nations (or “the Gentiles”)
b) The dominion of the Messianic King would be “from sea to sea”.
c) From the River Euphrates to the ends of the earth.

The word given by the Lord was to proclaim salvation to the world (Matthew 28:19-20).
