"Judah also will fight at Jerusalem"

Text: Zechariah 14:14

VICTORY ASSURED

The Lord’s personal involvement has a guaranteed result. Victory is assured.

“Judah also will fight at Jerusalem.
And the wealth of all the surrounding nations
Shall be gathered together:
Gold, silver, and apparel in great abundance.
Such also shall be the plague
On the horse and the mule,
On the camel and the donkey,
And on all the cattle that will be in those camps.
So shall this plague be.”
Zechariah 14:14-15

1. “Judah also will fight at Jerusalem”

a) The contrast must be noted.
b) Judah versus the nations of the earth (multi-national task force).

2. But victory was promised

a) The wealth of all the surrounding nations.
b) Gold, silver and apparel in great abundance.

3. Why did the enemy nations bring so much wealth with them?

a) They were so certain they would have the victory.
b) Many brought their wealth to display their personal glory.
c) Their wealth could be utilised to purchase land and other things after Jerusalem was captured.

4. The plague that God would inflict on the enemies

a) It would afflict the horses (war-horses).
b) The mule, donkey and camels were used as “beasts of burdens”.
i) These carried the gold, silver and rich apparels.
ii) They could also be used to carry the spoils of war.

But the plague that God would send would destroy their best-laid plans!
