"The remnant of the people"
Text: Zechariah 14:2
WAR PROPHECY
Would there be future wars for Israel? The prophecy given to Zechariah would indicate that Israel would face another war.
“Behold, the day of the LORD is coming,
And your spoil will be divided in your midst.
For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;
The city shall be taken,
The houses rifled,
And the women ravished.
Half of the city shall go into captivity,
But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.”
Zechariah 14:1-21. “The day of the LORD”
a) Many prophets used this phrase to describe the future.
b) This phrase described the judgment of the LORD.
2. The battle against Jerusalem
a) All nations
Many nations would be involved.
b) They will be hostile to Jerusalem.
3. The immediate results of the war
a) Jerusalem would suffer defeat.
b) The city would be taken.
c) That is, half the city would suffer defeat.
4. Terrible consequences
a) Spoils of war would be divided.
b) Houses rifled (broken into and property stolen).
c) Women would be raped.
5. Special protection for the remnant
They would not be cut off from the city!
