Without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers

Text: Romans 1:9

A PRIVILEGE NEVER TO BE TAKEN FOR GRANTED

Prayer is such a special privilege given to all believers! However, it is often taken for granted! Paul teaches us how we ought to apply this privilege of prayer.

“First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all,
that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit
in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention
of you always in my prayers.”
Romans 1:8-9

The following features ought to be included in our prayers!

1. Proper address

a) We address all prayers to God our Father (Cf. Matthew 6:9 as Jesus taught it).
b) We offer all prayers through the Lord Jesus (Cf. Hebrews 2-10… Jesus as our great High Priest)

2. Thanksgiving

a) There will always be things for which we give thanks to God.
b) The faith of the Roman believers caused Paul to give thanks.

3. Serving and praying

a) They go together closely.
b) Serving and praying must never be separated!

4. Praying without ceasing

a) This requires much dedication.
b) It also requires consistent practice.
c) It requires deep knowledge to offer meaningful intercessory prayers.

IMPROVING OUR PRAYER LIFE

We could all do with an improved prayer life. Paul offers great inspiration to us. How wonderfully blessed others would be if we could be faithful in praying for them. How much more significant our life and ministry would be if we were more prayerful.
