“Be glad in the LORD and rejoice…” Psalm 32:11a

CHOOSING THE RIGHT PATH

As David drew his contemplation to a close, he thought of two paths. There was the path of the wicked, and there was the path of the righteous who trusted in the Lord. Which path would be chosen?

“Many sorrows shall be to the wicked;
But he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him.
Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous;
And shout for joy all you upright in heart!”
Psalm 32:10-11

1. The path of the wicked

This path would be fraught with “many sorrows!” Who would wittingly choose a path filled with many sorrows?

2. The path of the godly

a) Identification of the godly
i) He who trusts in the Lord.
ii) He who is righteous.
iii) He who is upright in heart.
b) Blessings for the godly
i) Mercy from the Lord will surround him.
ii) The mercy of the Lord will always be available to him.

3. The response of the godly

a) Gladness of heart
b) Rejoicing in the Lord
c) Shouting for joy

CONTEMPLATING THE PATH WE WALK ON

It is wise that we contemplate the path we walk on carefully. Let us choose to walk with the Lord as His people. Let our life reflect uprightness. So will our life be filled with special blessings of joy! Let us reject the path of the wicked outright!
