The Hatred of Light
Text: John 3:20-21
“For everyone practising evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
John 3:20-21
THE HATRED OF LIGHT
1. Jesus was realistic when He came to the earth to be the Light of God.
2. He was aware of the darkness that prevailed in the heart of man.
3. Why would people not come to the light of salvation that He offered?
a. Because people continue to practise evil.
b. Because of this practice, they learn how to hate light.
c. Thus, there is a shunning of light rather than a desire to come to the Light.
d. There is a fear of exposure of dark and evil deeds.
COMING TO THE LIGHT
There will be some who will come to the Light of the world, the Lord Jesus Christ!
1. Some reasons why people come to the Light
a. Because they are tired and weary of so much darkness resulting from sin.
b. Because of promises that God has offered:
i. No condemnation
ii. Salvation
iii. Everlasting life
iv. The love of God
v. Light in this dark world
vi. Faith in the Lord Jesus
vii. A new life through being “born again”
2. Other reasons for coming to the Light
a. There is a love of truth.
b. There is a desire to practise truth as it is understood.
c. He is no longer afraid of hiding dark deeds; for the new life offers good deeds done in the Light.
d. God is the new centre in this salvation-life that is found in following the Lord Jesus Christ.
The believer becomes a new creation of God!
经文:约翰福音 3: 20-21
“凡作恶的便恨光,并不来就光,恐怕他的行为受责备;但行真理的必来就光,要显明他所行的是靠神而行。”
