The Word Became Flesh
Text: John 1:14, 16
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,
and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,
full of grace and truth.
And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.”John 1:14, 16
THE WORD BECAME FLESH
1. “The Word”
a. This is a reference to John 1:1-2.
b. Jesus is the Divine Word who has always been in existence from the beginning.
2. “Became Flesh”
a. Jesus became a full human being.
b. Thus, He was both Human and Divine at the same time.
3. “Dwelt among us”
a. This describes the Lord Jesus on this earth.
b. He dwelt among mankind.
c. He had a special group of Disciples who witnessed with their own eyes what Jesus was like.
4. The witness of John and the other Disciples
a. They saw the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.
b. His glory reflected that of God the Father.
c. His glory had two special features.
i. Full of grace
ii. Full of truth
5. Wonderful blessings received
a. Blessings come from the Lord.
b. They come from the abundance of God’s goodness.
c. Many were the blessings experienced by the Disciples of Jesus.
6. A blessing highlighted
a. The blessing of experiencing “grace”.
b. And this grace is truly abundant.
c. God’s grace is outpoured afresh and abundantly all the time.
