MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – CHRISTOLOGY
“Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.”
Colossians 3:13
HAVING FAITH IN THE LORD
1. Faith must first be acquired.
2. It must also be ascertained.
3. It must also be accounted for.
PRACTISING FAITH IN REAL LIFE
1. This was the challenge that deserves careful attention.
2. Two aspects were highlighted:
a. Bearing with one another.
b. Forgiving one another.
BEARING WITH ONE ANOTHER
1. The Lord Jesus Christ taught His Disciples the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12).
a. The Beatitudes would form the essential character of the believer.
b. The challenge:
i. To cultivate what the Lord Jesus taught.
ii. To practise the Beatitudes in real life.
2. The problem:
a. Some believers have not cultivated their personal life much.
b. Thus, tension and friction may arise when they form the Church.
c. The behaviour of some may be:
i. Immature
ii. Aggressive
iii. Even abusive
3. The challenge was to learn how bear with one another.
a. To understand behavioural problems as they arise.
b. To bear with people who are not refined in their behaviour.
PRACTISING FORGIVENESS
1. Some behavioural problems are:
a. Objectionable
b. Obnoxious
2. The challenge was:
a. To practise forgiveness.
b. This may not be so easy.
3. The need is to remember the example of the Lord Jesus.
a. He forgave all who came to Him humbly.
b. We are to learn how to forgive as the Lord Jesus has forgiven us.
