Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead) and all the brethren who are with me, To the churches of Galatia: Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Galatians 1:1-5
1. The author of the Letter to the Galatians
a. He was an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ
b. He was not one of the original Apostles appointed
c. But he was appointed an Apostle:
i. By God the Father
ii. Through the Lord Jesus Christ
2. The Recipients of this important Letter
a. The churches of Galatia
b. Paul planted Churches in Galatia in his missionary journeys
A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DOCTRINE OF SALVATION
1. The part played by the Lord Jesus Christ
a. He gave Himself to die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins
b. This is how we may obtain salvation from God
2. What Salvation means
a. The Lord Jesus delivers us:
i. From sin
ii. From Satan
iii. From this evil world we live
b. This is made possible by:
i. The grace of God
ii. The will of God
c. We are assured of God’s wonderful and enduring blessing:
i. Grace
ii. Peace
3. Appropriate response
a. To give glory to God forever and ever
b. We have been given glorious salvation!
