Text: Luke 24: 44-45

OPENING UP THE SCRIPTURES

1. The Lord Jesus took time to open up the Scriptures to His Disciples in His ministry when He walked on the earth.

2. The Disciples lacked many things:

a. They were not Rabbinic scholars.

b. Their knowledge of the Scriptures was rather basic.

c. They knew the Law of Moses and what God expected.

d. But they did not understand many things concerning:

i. The Messiah

ii. The Kingdom of God

iii. The Second Coming

POST-RESURRECTION TEACHING

“Then He said to them, ‘These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.’ And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.”

Luke 24:44-45

1. “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you”

a. The Lord had taught His Disciples vital truths.

b. But they had struggled to fully understand what He had taught.

2. “That all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.”

a. There were many references to the Lord Jesus in the Scriptures.

b. The Scriptures (What we call “The Old Testament”)

i. The law of Moses (The Pentateuch)

ii. The Prophets

iii. The Psalms

c. The Lord Jesus had pointed out many truths that were foretold.

i. His life

ii. His ministry

iii. His suffering

iv. His death

v. His resurrection

d. The Lord Jesus fulfilled all that the Scriptures prophesied with reference to His first coming.

3. “And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.”

a. The Lord Jesus needed to open their understanding.

b. Only then could they comprehend the Scriptures.

How wonderfully patient the Lord Jesus was to His Disciples!

1．“这就是我从前与你们同在之时所告诉你们的话”

a．主已教导祂的门徒重要的真理

b．但他们无法完全理解祂的教导

2．“摩西的律法、先知的书和诗篇上所记的，凡指着我的话都必须应验。”

a．圣经里多次提到主耶稣

b．圣经（我们称之为“旧约”）

i．摩西的律法（五经）

ii．先知的书

iii．诗篇

c．主耶稣已经指出了许多预言的真理

i．祂的生命

ii．祂的事工

iii．祂的受害

iv．祂的死

v．祂的复活

d．主耶稣应验了圣经里关于祂第一次降临的所有预言

3．“于是耶稣开他们的心窍，使他们能明白圣经。”

a．主耶稣需要开启他们的悟性

b．只有这样他们才能理解圣经

主耶稣对祂的门徒们是何等的有耐心！
