Text: Luke 23: 39-43

THE THIEVES AT MOUNT CALVARY

1. The Lord Jesus was crucified together with two criminals.

2. They had been deemed to be bad enough to be crucified for their crimes.

THE MINISTRY OF THE LORD ON THE CROSS

1. It is amazing that the Lord Jesus actually ministered to a thief even when he as in great pain.

2. This story was recorded for our instruction and inspiration.

“Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, ‘If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.’ But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, ‘Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.’ Then he said to Jesus, ‘Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.’”

THE BLASPHEMY OF ONE THIEF

1. This thief spoke against the Lord Jesus Christ.

2. He challenged the Lord to save Himself and to save them.

3. But he spoke in unbelief and derision.

THE FAITH OF THE OTHER THIEF

1. He rebuked the blaspheming criminal.

a. He should have feared God.
b. He stood in danger of eternal condemnation.
c. He had already been condemned to death by the Romans
d. Both of them had been justly condemned for their wicked crimes.
e. Somehow, he believed that the Lord Jesus had done no wrong to be crucified!

2. A humble plea to the Lord Jesus.

“Then he said to Jesus, ‘Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.’”

Luke 23:42

a. He addressed the Saviour as “Lord”.
b. He believed that the Lord Jesus was indeed a King.
c. He asked to be remembered when the Lord Jesus had come into His kingdom.
d. This was an amazing faith.

3. The swift response of the Lord Jesus.

a. The Lord Jesus would receive him into His kingdom.
b. His kingdom is nothing short of paradise.
c. His death that day would see him ushered into the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ.
d. Right to the end, the Lord Jesus proclaimed the kingdom of heaven.

一个强盗的亵渎

1. 这个强盗毁谤主耶稣基督

2. 他挑战主拯救自己和他们

3. 但他的话带着不信讥笑

另一个强盗的信心

1. 他斥责亵渎主耶稣的强盗

a. 他应该敬畏上帝

b. 他很有可能受永恒的谴责

c. 他已经被罗马人判处死刑

d. 他们两人都因他们邪恶的罪行而受到了公正的谴责

e. 不知何故,他相信主耶稣并未干犯任何罪,而需要被钉死!

2. 他谦卑地向主耶稣恳求

“就说:‘耶稣啊,你得国降临的时候,求你记念我!’”

a. 他称救主为“主”

b. 他相信主耶稣确实是一位王

c. 他要求当主耶稣进入祂的国度时,记念他

d. 这是一个奇妙的信心

3. 主耶稣迅速地回应

a. 主耶稣会接他进入祂的国度

b. 祂的国度简直就是乐园

c. 他离世那天,将进入主耶稣基督的国度

d. 直到最后,主耶稣还是在宣告天国的信息
