MEDITATION
Genesis 34:6-7
6 Then Hamor the father of Shechem went out to Jacob to speak with him.
7 And the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it; and the men were grieved and very angry, because he had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying with Jacob’s daughter, a thing which ought not to be done.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Hamor’s meeting with Jacob
a. Shechem had asked his father, Hamor to speak to Jacob.
b. He wanted to marry Dinah.
c. Hamor, being the prince of the country called on Jacob.
He was supporting his son’s wish to marry Dinah.
2. Jacob and his sons
a. They had returned from the fields.
b. They had learned about the rape of Dinah.
c. Dinah was the only sister they had.
d. They must have loved her dearly.
3. The feelings of the sons of Jacob
a. They were grieved.
b. They were also very angry.
i. This was an outrage.
ii. To have Dinah go through this experience incensed them greatly.
c. Rape
i. They felt for Dinah deeply.
ii. There was a feeling of shame and disgrace for the whole family.
iii. Rape was an uncalled-for crime.

6 示剑的父亲哈抹出来见雅各,要和他商议。7 雅各的儿子们听见这事,就从田野回来,人人愤恨,十分恼怒,因示剑在以色列家做了丑事,与雅各的女儿行淫,这本是不该做的事。
