MEDITATION
Genesis 32:22-25
22 And he arose that night and took his two wives, his two female servants, and his eleven sons, and crossed over the ford of Jabbok.
23 He took them, sent them over the brook, and sent over what he had.
24 Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day.
25 Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. The last group
a. His family
b. Two official wives
c. Two secondary wives (described as “two female servants”)
d. His eleven sons (Daughter was not mentioned but included.
2. He brought them over safely, fording the Jabbok Brook
a. He wanted to ensure their safety.
b. His family would be closest to his heart.
3. A “wrestling” match
a. Jacob was all alone.
b. There appeared “A Man”.
c. They wrestled through the night.
4. How may we understand this passage?
a. The sudden appearance of “A Man” must have caught the notice of Jacob.
b. This was obviously not an ordinary Man!
c. He had earlier seen angels encamped nearby.
He must have surmised that this was a Heavenly Man.
d. He struggled with this Man until daybreak. Jacob was injured on purpose. This Heavenly Man had great power. A mere touch, and his hip bone was out of joint!

22 他夜间起来,带着两个妻子、两个使女并十一个儿子,都过了雅博渡口。
23 先打发他们过河,又打发所有的都过去,
24 只剩下雅各一人。有一个人来和他摔跤,直到黎明。25 那人见自己胜不过他,就将他的大腿窝摸了一把,雅各的大腿窝正在摔跤的时候就扭了。
