MEDITATION
Genesis 31:25-28
25 So Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mountains, and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mountains of Gilead.
26 And Laban said to Jacob: “What have you done, that you have stolen away unknown to me, and carried away my daughters like captives taken with the sword?
27 Why did you flee away secretly, and steal away from me, and not tell me; for I might have sent you away with joy and songs, with timbrel and harp?
28 And you did not allow me to kiss my sons and my daughters. Now you have done foolishly in so doing.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. In the same area
a. Jacob could not move very quickly.
i. His flocks and herds were great.
ii. He had a large family with him.
b. Laban had finally caught up with him.
i. There could have been an ugly situation.
ii. Laban and his brethren were prepared to battle Jacob.
2. Laban’s approach
a. He rebuked Jacob for stealing away quietly.
b. Jacob had taken away
i. His daughters.
ii. His grandchildren.
iii. He called them “my sons and my daughters” as if he was very close to them.
c. He remonstrated with Jacob that a proper farewell had not been planned.
i. There could have been a happy farewell.
ii. Songs of joy could have been the theme for their farewell party.
These words were uttered to give to Jacob a good impression about himself.

25拉班追上雅各。雅各在山上支搭帐篷，拉班和他的众弟兄也在基列山上支搭帐篷。
26拉班对雅各说：“你做的是什么事呢？你背着我偷走了，又把我的女儿们带了去，如同用刀剑掳去的一般。
27你为什么暗暗地逃跑，偷着走，并不告诉我，叫我可以欢乐、唱歌、击鼓、弹琴地送你回去？28又不容我与外孙和女儿亲嘴。你所行的真是愚昧！
