MEDITATION
Genesis 27:33-34
33 Then Isaac trembled exceedingly, and said, “Who? Where is the one who hunted game and brought it to me? I ate all of it before you came, and I have blessed him—and indeed he shall be blessed.”
34 When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, “Bless me — me also, O my father!”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Isaac’s response
a. He trembled exceedingly.
b. Meaning:
i. He was shocked.
ii. He was in confusion.
2. Questions
a. Who?
i. Who was the one who had come to see him earlier?
ii. Who was the one who stood before him now?
b. Where?
i. Where was the one who had brought him food to eat a while ago?
ii. Isaac was almost in despair as realization hit him hard.
3. The blessing of the firstborn
a. He had given Jacob the blessing of the firstborn.
b. Jacob would be blessed by the Lord indeed!
4. Esau’s cry in despair
a. Could his father not give him a special blessing too?
b. Esau’s cry was with exceeding great emotion! He felt exasperation!
