Text: Genesis 25: 19-23
MEDITATION
Genesis 25:19-23
19 This is the genealogy of Isaac, Abraham’s son. Abraham begot Isaac.
20 Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian.
21 Now Isaac pleaded with the LORD for his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived.
22 But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If all is well, why am I like this?” So she went to inquire of the LORD.
23 And the LORD said to her: “Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, and the older shall serve the younger.”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Isaac’s marriage to Rebekah
a. He was married at forty years old.
b. But Rebekah seemed to be barren.
2. Isaac’s prayer to the Lord
a. He pleaded with the Lord for Rebekah to have a child.
b. God graciously heard and answered this prayer.
c. Rebekah conceived.
3. A difficult pregnancy was experienced
a. Rebekah sought the LORD in prayer.
b. God’s word was revealed to Rebekah.
i. She would have twins.
ii. One would be stronger than the other.
iii. The older would serve the younger.

19 亚伯拉罕的儿子以撒的后代记在下面。亚伯拉罕生以撒。
20 以撒娶利百加为妻的时候正四十岁，利百加是巴旦亚兰地的亚兰人彼土利的女儿，是亚兰人拉班的妹子。
21 以撒因他妻子不生育，就为她祈求耶和华。耶和华应允他的祈求，他的妻子利百加就怀了孕。
22 孩子们在她腹中彼此相争，她就说：“若是这样，我为什么活着呢？”她就去求问耶和华。23 耶和华对她说：“两国在你腹内，两族要从你身上出来，这族必强于那族，将来大的要服侍小的。”
