Text: Genesis 24: 22-25
MEDITATION
Genesis 24:22-25
22 So it was, when the camels had finished drinking, that the man took a golden nose ring weighing half a shekel, and two bracelets for her wrists weighing ten shekels of gold,
23 and said, “Whose daughter are you? Tell me, please, is there room in your father’s house for us to lodge?”
24 So she said to him, “I am the daughter of Bethuel, Milcah’s son, whom she bore to Nahor.”
25 Moreover she said to him, “We have both straw and feed enough, and room to lodge.”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. A gift from the chief steward for Rebekah
a. The work of drawing water for 10 thirsty camels was acknowledged.
b. He presented a significant gift to her.
i. A golden nose ring.
ii. Two bracelets weighing 10 shekels of gold.
2. Polite questions
a. Whose daughter was Rebekah?
One was known with reference to parents in those days.
b. Was there room for lodging for at least 10 camel drivers?
3. Rebekah’s reply
a. She identified herself clearly.
i. Her father was Bethuel who was Milcah’s son.
ii. Nahor was the brother of Abraham.
b. Lodgings were available for all who had accompanied the chief steward.
c. There would also be sufficient straw and feed for the camels too.
This disclosure must have added to the astonishment of the chief steward!

22 骆驼喝足了,那人就拿一个金环,重半舍客勒,两个金镯,重十舍客勒,给了那女子,
23 说:“请告诉我,你是谁的女儿?你父亲家里有我们住宿的地方没有?”
24 女子说:“我是密迦与拿鹤之子彼土利的女儿。”25 又说:“我们家里足有粮草,也有住宿的地方。”
