Text: Genesis 20: 8-10
MEDITATION
Genesis 20:8-10
8 So Abimelech rose early in the morning, called all his servants, and told all these things in their hearing; and the men were very much afraid.
9 And Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, “What have you done to us? How have I offended you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done.”
10 Then Abimelech said to Abraham, “What did you have in view, that you have done this thing?”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Abimelech’s word to all his servants
a. He spoke about his dream and how God spoke to him firmly.
b. The servants were greatly frightened that they would be judged by God.
2. Abimelech’s word to Abraham
a. He demanded an explanation from Abraham.
b. His questions were pointed:
i. “What have you done to us?”
Abraham had put Abimelech and his people in danger of Divine judgment!
ii. “How have I offended you, that you have brought on me and my kingdom a great sin?”
Abraham was blamed for not making clear that Sarah was his wife!
c. He reprimanded Abraham.
“You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done”
i. Abraham and Sarah should not have lied about their relationship.
ii. They should not have deceived Abimelech and his people by pretending that they were brother and sister to each other.
d. Another angry question was raised.
“What did you have in view, that you have done this thing?”
i. What did Abraham have in mind when he did all these wrong things?
ii. Abimelech felt that he had a right to confront Abraham with these questions.
iii. Abimelech was very upset when God gave him a severe warning.

8 亚比米勒清早起来,召了众臣仆来,将这些事都说给他们听,他们都甚惧怕。
9亚比米勒召了亚伯拉罕来,对他说:“你怎么向我这样行呢?我在什么事上得罪了你,你竟使我和我国里的人陷在大罪里?你向我行不当行的事了。”10亚比米勒又对亚伯拉罕说:“你见了什么才做这事呢?”
