Text: Genesis 19: 27-29
MEDITATION
Genesis 19:27-29
27 And Abraham went early in the morning to the place where he had stood before the LORD.
28 Then he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain; and he saw, and behold, the smoke of the land which went up like the smoke of a furnace.
29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when He overthrew the cities in which Lot had dwelt.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Abraham’s concern about Sodom and Gomorrah
a. Early in the morning, he went to the place where he had pleaded for Sodom and Gomorrah.
b. He wanted to know how things would turn out for the twin cities.
2. From a distance
a. He looked towards the region of Sodom and Gomorrah.
b. He saw a column of smoke arising from that direction.
c. He knew in his heart that the wicked cities had been destroyed.
d. Ten righteous people were not found there!
3. God had Abraham in mind
a. God had remembered Abraham and his plea for Sodom and Gomorrah.
b. He had spared Lot and his daughters.
c. They would have been destroyed if they had chosen to stay in Sodom.
d. The judgment against Sodom and Gomorrah was well-within the righteous and sovereign will of God.
e. The fateful judgment against sin cannot be blamed on the Lord God!

27亚伯拉罕清早起来,到了他从前站在耶和华面前的地方,
28向所多玛和蛾摩拉与平原的全地观看,不料,那地方烟气上腾,如同烧窑一般。29当神毁灭平原诸城的时候,他纪念亚伯拉罕,正在倾覆罗得所住之城的时候,就打发罗得从倾覆之中出来。
