MEDITATION
Genesis 12: 4-6
4 So Abram departed as the LORD had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.
5 Then Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they departed to go to the land of Canaan. So they came to the land of Canaan.
6 Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, as far as the terebinth tree of Moreh. And the Canaanites were then in the land.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Abram exercised his faith in God
a. He departed from his country and his family.
b. As the LORD had instructed him.
c. His nephew Lot went with him.
2. Age of Abram when he made this move
a. He was 75 years old.
b. He was not a young man when he made this decision to exercise faith in God.
3. Total commitment expressed
a. The people who made this commitment:
i. Abram and Sarai
ii. Lot, the nephew of Abram, for his father had died
b. The people they had acquired were the servants of the family.
4. The land of Canaan
a. Shechem was virtually the capital of the region.
b. A terebinth tree was like an old oak tree; it symbolized strength that would last.
c. Canaan was not uninhabited. These were the original settlers in the land.

4 亚伯兰就照着耶和华的吩咐去了，罗得也和他同去。亚伯兰出哈兰的时候年七十五岁。
5 亚伯兰将他妻子撒莱和侄儿罗得，连他们在哈兰所积蓄的财物、所得的人口，都带往迦南地去。他们就到了迦南地。6 亚伯兰经过那地，到了示剑地方，摩利橡树那里。那时，迦南人住在那地。
