Text: Exodus 4: 10-12
MEDITATION
Exodus 4:10-12
10 Then Moses said to the LORD, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”
11 So the LORD said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the LORD?
12 Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Personal inadequacy expressed
a. “Not eloquent”
i. Moses said that he was never eloquent.
ii. Even before this meeting with God, he was not eloquent.
b. “Slow of speech and slow of tongue”
i. He was conscious that he was not a skilled speaker.
ii. He was not quick-witted enough to speak without lots of preparation.
c. Moses was concerned that he might have to speak a lot.
i. To the Pharaoh
ii. To the Elders
iii. To the children of Israel
2. God’s response
a. The LORD reminded Moses that He was the Creator.
b. God as Creator:
i. He made the mouth.
ii. He made the mute.
iii. He also made the deaf, the sighted ones and the blind.
c. Sending of Moses:
i. Moses must obey.
ii. God would be there with him.
iii. He would be with his mouth and would teach Moses what to say.

10 摩西对耶和华说:“主啊,我素日不是能言的人,就是从你对仆人说话以后,也是这样。我本是拙口笨舌的。”
11 耶和华对他说:“谁造人的口呢?谁使人口哑、耳聋、目明、眼瞎呢?岂不是我耶和华吗?12 现在去吧,我必赐你口才,指教你所当说的话。”
