Text: Exodus 24: 1-2
MEDITATION
Exodus 24:1-2
1 Now He said to Moses, “Come up to the LORD, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship from afar.
2 And Moses alone shall come near the LORD, but they shall not come near; nor shall the people go up with him.”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. God’s Invitation
a. Moses
b. Aaron and his two sons
i. Nadab
ii. Abihu
c. Seventy elders of Israel
Together they will represent Israel.
2. Invitation to worship on the Mountain
3. Specific instructions
a. Moses would be the only one allowed to draw near to God.
b. Everyone else are to worship from a distance.
i. This would include Aaron, Nadab and Abihu.
ii. The Seventy Elders
iii. The children of Israel
WHAT THIS IS NOT
1. This is not discrimination against the congregation.
2. This is not favouritism either.
3. Only Moses had proven himself well thus far.
4. He knew how to approach God properly:
a. With a reverential fear of God.
b. With deep knowledge of the Lord.
c. With faithful service given to God.
5. None of the people had this understanding and relationship with God
a. The worship of God is a sacred thing.
b. Many details had to be learned.
c. This was a very special Worship that was planned.

1耶和华对摩西说:“你和亚伦、拿答、亚比户,并以色列长老中的七十人,都要上到我这里来,远远地下拜。2唯独你可以亲近耶和华,他们却不可亲近,百姓也不可和你一同上来。”
