Text: Exodus 22: 22-24

MEDITATION

Exodus 22:22-24

22 “You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child.
23 If you afflict them in any way, and they cry at all to Me, I will surely hear their cry;
24 and My wrath will become hot, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE

1. Affliction

a. This is easily caused by wicked people.
b. It may come in many forms:
i. Oppression
ii. Causing hurt
iii. Taunting
iv. Threatening

2. No affliction on the following especially

a. Widows
b. Fatherless children
c. They may not be able to defend themselves.

3. Word of warning

a. The victims may cry out to God.
b. The Lord will hear them.

4. Severe punishment from God

a. The Lord would be very angry with oppressors.
b. He can punish severely.
c. The wicked oppressors:
i. They will have widows in the family.
ii. Their children would be fatherless.

22不可苦待寡妇和孤儿。
23若是苦待他们一点,他们向我一哀求,我总要听他们的哀声,

24并要发烈怒,用刀杀你们,使你们的妻子为寡妇,儿女为孤儿。

在生活里有意义地应用

1. 苦待

a. 恶人们很轻易地苦待他人
b. 这可以通过不同方式:
i. 欺压
ii. 伤害
iii. 嘲讽
iv. 恐吓

2. 不可苦待,特别是:

a. 寡妇
b. 孤儿
c. 他们

3. 警告

a. 受害者会向上帝哀求
b. 上帝会听他们的哀声

4. 上帝严厉的惩罚

a. 上帝会对恶人发烈怒
b. 祂将严厉惩罚
i. 他们的妻子将成为寡妇
ii. 他们的儿女将成为孤儿
