MEDITATION
Exodus 16:13-16
13 So it was that quail came up at evening and covered the camp, and in the morning the dew lay all around the camp.
14 And when the layer of dew lifted, there, on the surface of the wilderness, was a small round substance, as fine as frost on the ground.
15 So when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, “This is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat.
16 This is the thing which the LORD has commanded: ‘Let every man gather it according to each one’s need, one omer for each person, according to the number of persons; let every man take for those who are in his tent.’”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. God’s word came to pass
a. In the evening
Quail was given to the children of Israel.
b. In the morning
Bread was given.
2. The dew of God
a. Dew is a common everyday thing.
b. It would appear early in the morning.
c. But the dew God gave was different.
i. It was round in appearance.
ii. It was like frost (ice..
d. The people asked “What is it?”
i. In Hebrew it would be “Manna”.
ii. The bread that God gave came to be known as “Manna”.
iii. This was the bread that God had promised to provide for Israel.
3. Instructions to the people
a. The people are to gather what they need.
b. Each person may have up to one omer.
i. This is a measure used by Israel in those days.
ii. Some modern estimate suggest that it was about 3 litres.
iii. Others estimate the omer to be about 2.3 litres.
c. In any case, there would be sufficient bread for everyone.
d. Each family may take as much as needed.

13 到了晚上，有鹌鹑飞来，遮满了营。早晨，在营四围的地上有露水。
14 露水上升之后，不料，野地面上有如白霜的小圆物。
15 以色列人看见，不知道是什么，就彼此对问说：“这是什么呢？”摩西对他们说：“这就是耶和华给你们吃的食物。16 耶和华所吩咐的是这样：你们要按着各人的饭量，为帐篷里的人按着人数收起来，各拿一俄梅珥。”
