1 Peter 4:14 "If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified."

Day 120 – Mark 5

“If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.”
1 Peter 4:14

MINISTRY WITHIN A MINISTRY

Jesus was absolutely a master in everything He did. Only He could come up with the idea of having a ministry within a ministry. This concept is truly unique and beautiful.

1. Ministry at Gadara

En route to Gadara, Jesus taught His disciples important lessons about “faith”. He revealed more about Himself, as One who was Master of the Sea!

And while He ministered to Legion, His disciples caught vital lessons from just observing Him in ministry. These lessons were meant to impact and ready the Disciples for the time when they would have to minister on their own.

2. Amidst ministry to the multitude

Jairus’ cry for help afforded Jesus to minister to Jairus. He took everything in His stride, as if interruptions were part and parcel of His overall ministry! Jesus acceded to the request of Jairus. He would indeed come over to his home and heal his daughter.

THE THRONGING MULTITUDES

As Jesus walked with Jairus to his home, the multitudes followed closely.

“So Jesus went with him, and a great multitude
followed him and thronged Him.”
MARK 5:24

To be with Jesus was exciting. To follow Him to Jairus’ home must have thrilled the hearts of many. The miracles Jesus performed were truly wondrous! Who would want to miss seeing Him perform His mighty signs and wonders? What had the multitudes learned after having been with Jesus all this while?

1. They thronged Him

The more important question was whether they had learned anything from Him at all? Had they only followed Him out of mere curiosity?

2. Followed Him

The Twelve were especially called that they might learn vital lessons of faith, life and ministry. They were called that they might receive special instructions and be equipped for ministry.

What about the “great multitude?” For all their energy and effort in following Jesus, they appeared to have benefited little spiritually.

THE GRACIOUSNESS OF JESUS

Jesus graciously allowed the multitude to follow Him. Perhaps some might yet be touched if they were to observe how Jesus ministered by His life.
