“For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.” 1 Peter 2:15

UNCLEAN SPIRITS ACKNOWLEDGE THE SUPREME POWER OF JESUS

Among the multitude of people who came to Jesus were people who were possessed by evil spirits. Mark made this remarkable observation.

“And the unclean spirits, whenever they saw Him,
fell down before Him and cried out, saying,
‘You are the Son of God.'”
MARK 3:11

Though the learned scribes and the legalistic Pharisees could not discern who Jesus was, the evil spirits were able to instantaneously identify Him.

1. They recognized Jesus instinctively

a) They recognized Him as the Son of God.
b) They recognized His power.
c) They recognized His authority.
d) They recognized that they were but lowly minions who could not but tremble before One who was infinitely superior!

2. They prostrated themselves before Jesus

a) They bowed not because of their faith in Him.
b) They bowed because they felt compelled to bow in the Presence of the Majestic Son of God.
c) They bowed because they could not help themselves.

3. “You are the Son of God”

a) There was no mistaking the Identity of Jesus.
b) The evil spirits could not be wrong about who Jesus was.
c) They had to obey His every word… and they came out of those they possessed at a single word of command from Jesus!

FORBIDDEN TO SPEAK ABOUT JESUS AS THE SON OF GOD

Jesus refused to rely on the demons to make His identity known. He forbade them to declare to people the true identity of Jesus- the Son of God!
