"I make them My jewels"

Text: Malachi 3:17

THE LORD’S BLESSINGS PROMISED

What would the LORD do for those who truly honoured and feared Him?

“‘They shall be Mine,’ says the LORD of hosts,
‘On the day that I make them My jewels.
And I will spare them
As a man spares his own son who serves him.’
Then you shall again discern
Between the righteous and the wicked,
Between one who serves God
And one who does not serve Him.”
Malachi 3:17-18

1. A special set of blessings would be bestowed on those who feared Him

a) The Lord would especially acknowledge them as “His”.
An equivalent may be found in this text:

“His own special people…”
1 Peter 2:9

i) Specially kept and preserved.
ii) Special because they were like refined gold.
b) “My jewels”
i) The LORD would regard them as “treasure”.
ii) He would have a special regard for them.
c) They would be spared. As specially-loved children who served their father dutifully and faithfully.

2. In the day of judgment

a) God will distinguish the following:
i) Those who are righteous and those who are wicked.
ii) Those who serve God and those who don’t.
b) This discernment would become obvious to all.
i) The righteous and how they fear God would be known by all.
ii) Those who only appear to be righteous but are in fact wicked would be exposed.
