Day 27

"Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling..."

Text: Jude 24

A SIGNIFICANT PRAYER

Jude concluded his short letter with a very significant closing prayer. Jude was commending his beloved readers to the Lord Jesus Christ!

“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling,
And to present you faultless
Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
To God our Saviour,
Who alone is wise,
Be glory and majesty,
Dominion and power,
Both now and forever.
Amen.”

Jude 24-25

1. “Now to Him who is able”

a) This is an obvious reference to the Lord Jesus Christ.
b) The NKJV text does not mention the Lord Jesus by name (Majority Text).
c) But the Lord Jesus Christ was certainly mentioned by name (NU Text).

2. The special work of the Lord Jesus Christ

a) To present true believers faultless before the presence of His (God the Father) glory.
b) The Lord would present us to His Father with exceeding joy.
c) We have corresponding texts that will back up this statement by Jude (e.g. Hebrews 2:10-13).

A GREAT DOXOLOGY

Jude chose to conclude his letter with a great doxology. He may have contended earnestly for the faith. But he refused to end his letter with feelings of anger or bitterness. Wisely he chose to conclude with a wonderful word of praise to God!

1. “To God our Saviour”

Jude sought to give glory to God who is our glorious Saviour.

2. Through Jesus Christ our Lord

This phrase is not in the NKJV (Majority Text, but is found in the NU Text)

3. In praise of the Being of God

a) Who alone is wise.
b) Jude extols the Wisdom of God.

4. Extolling God

(These words must have come forth from a heart that is filled with a great sense of reverence and love!)

a) Ascribing “glory and majesty” to the Lord.
b) Focusing on His “dominion and power”.
c) Desiring that glory would always be given to God “both now and forever.” Humbly, he adds the concluding word, “Amen.”
