"They will be driven into darkness"
Text: Isaiah 8:22
THE CONSEQUENCES OF SEEKING THE OCCULT
The seekers of occultic practices did not fully comprehend the consequences of their activities. The seekers believed in the mediums and wizards. But what if their predictions did not come to pass?
“They will pass through it hard-pressed and hungry;
and it shall happen, when they are hungry,
that they will be enraged and curse their king and their God, and look upward.
Then they will look to the earth, and see trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish;
and they will be driven into darkness.”
Isaiah 8:21-22
1. What people generally seek after:
a) Wealth
b) Success
c) Health
2. Occultic practices:
a) People seek knowledge of the future.
b) Others seek dead relatives.
c) Still others seek power.
3. All would be greatly disappointed.
a) They will suffer loss.
b) All the promises of mediums and wizards would never be fulfilled.
c) They would end up:
i) Hard-pressed
ii) Hungry
iii) Enraged
iv) They would realise that they had been deceived and cheated.
4. In the rage of the people:
a) They will curse the king (the government).
b) They will also vent their anger on the Lord.
5. The futile search for solutions.
a) They will look up to God but He may not answer.
b) They will look for answers from the earth but will not find any.
6. The future they did not expect:
a) They will see trouble.
b) The darkness will not lift.
c) There will be gloom and anguish.
d) Darkness will continue to prevail.
Occultic practices are deceptive and deadly!
Seeking the law and the testimony given by the LORD is the wisest course of action!
