"For God is with us"

Text: Isaiah 8:10

A WORD OF WARNING TO THE INVADERS

The LORD warned of an invasion from the Assyrians. Isaiah’s response was to cry out “Immanuel!” This was his prayer that God’s Presence may be with His people. Somehow, he must have obtained a word from the LORD. He wrote to warn the invaders of how they would ultimately be defeated.

“Be shattered, O you peoples, and be broken in pieces!
Give ear, all you from far countries.
Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces;
Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces.
Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing;
Speak the word, but it will not stand,
For God is with us.”
