Day 488

"The LORD will be your everlasting light"

Text: Isaiah 60:20

A SPECIAL SOURCE OF LIGHT

In the divine plan of God, a new source of light would be given. The LORD Himself would be the Light for Israel.

“The sun shall no longer be your light by day,
Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you;
But the LORD will be to you an everlasting light,
And your God your glory.
Your sun shall no longer go down,
Nor shall your moon withdraw itself;
For the LORD will be your everlasting light,
And the days of your mourning shall be ended.”
Isaiah 60:19-20

1. The Light we have today.

a) The sun to shine in the day time.

b) The moon to give its light in the night.

2. The new plan.

a) The LORD Himself would be an everlasting light.

b) If this is to be taken literally:

i) This is beyond the scientific knowledge we have.

ii) It would be a completely new order of things.

c) If this is to be understood symbolically:

i) It would mean that the Light God gives would be His glory.

ii) The Glory that God would give would be an everlasting one.

iii) It would be a glory that has never been seen before.

iv) It would be nothing short of miraculous to see this come to pass.

3. The significance is astounding.

a) The sun will not go down.

b) Nor would the moon withdraw its light.

c) The LORD Himself will provide all the light that is needed.

4. There will be no mourning.

a) Warfare has ended.

b) A new and unending era commences.

c) God will give His glorious light to His people.

Whatever form it takes, this new creation plan of God would be an absolutely marvellous work to behold!
