Day 470

"The mouth of the LORD has spoken"

Text: Isaiah 58:14

THE GUARANTEE OF THE LORD

The promise of blessing from the LORD was wonderfully uplifting. God gave a strong word of affirmation with His word of promise.

“Those from among you
Shall build the old waste places;
You shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach,
The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.
If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
From doing your pleasure on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight,
The holy day of the LORD honourable,
And shall honour Him, not doing your own ways,
Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking your own words,
Then you shall delight yourself in the LORD;
And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth,
And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.
The mouth of the LORD has spoken.”
Isaiah 58:12-14

1. The Rebuilding of the nation.

a) The old waste places would be rebuilt.

b) New foundations would be established.

c) Israel would see many who will deserve the following titles:

i) “The Repairer of the Breach”

ii) “The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In”

2. A great word of encouragement to honour God by keeping the Sabbath.

a) If the nation will keep the Sabbath:

i) If they refrain from seeking pleasure on God’s holy day (Sabbath).

ii) If they delight in the Sabbath.

iii) If they regard this day as honourable.

iv) If they honour the LORD and regard Him.

v) If they will not focus on doing their own things.

vi) If they stop seeking their own pleasures.

vii) If they stop speaking their own words.

3. A great future awaits the nation.

a) Then they will find themselves delighting in the LORD.

b) God will cause the nation to ride on the high hills of earth.

i) Israel would be successful.

ii) It would become mighty.

c) He will feed them with the heritage of Jacob:

i) As God blessed Jacob with a large family.

ii) As God blessed Jacob with success and wealth.

iii) So God would bless the nation if the people honoured Him by keeping the Sabbath.

This was a solemn promise the LORD gave to Israel. He would always honour His word given!
