"My salvation will be forever"
Text: Isaiah 51:6
GOD’S SALVATION
The salvation that God had planned was something to be greatly treasured. Nobody else could come up with the promise of salvation that would last forever!
“Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
And look on the earth beneath.
For the heavens will vanish away like smoke,
The earth will grow old like a garment,
And those who dwell in it will die in like manner;
But My salvation will be forever,
And My righteousness will not be abolished.”
Isaiah 51:6
1. The challenge to lift up the eyes:
a) To look at the heavens above.
b) To look at the earth beneath.
c) What fills the heart and mind when we look at them?
d) The common understanding of many:
i) That the heavens and the earth will last forever.
ii) Many harboured this thought.
2. An astonishing thought presented.
a) The heavens are not eternal.
b) The heavens will vanish away as smoke does.
c) The earth will grow old like a garment.
d) All who live on earth will perish similarly.
3. What then would last forever?
a) The salvation that God gives will last forever.
b) The righteousness of God will never be abolished.
c) Only the LORD has this attribute of being Eternal.
d) The Salvation that God gives will be one that lasts forever.
e) This is a truly wondrous truth to rejoice in!
