Day 346

"Who confirms the word of His servant"

Text: Isaiah 44:26

THE CONFIRMING OF GOD’S WORD

No word of the LORD is given but that He would also fulfil it. The fulfilment of God’s word is His way of confirming it.

“Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer,
And He who formed you from the womb:
‘I am the LORD, who makes all things,
Who stretches out the heavens all alone,
Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself;
Who frustrates the signs of the babblers,
And drives diviners mad;
Who turns wise men backward,
And makes their knowledge foolishness;
Who confirms the word of His servant,
And performs the counsel of His messengers;
Who says to Jerusalem, ‘You shall be inhabited,’
To the cities of Judah, ‘You shall be built,’
And I will raise up her waste places.'”
Isaiah 44:24-26

1. The Power of God in Redemption and Creation.

a) His work as the Redeemer involves great power.

b) His work as Creator also involves mighty power.

i) In the creation of a human being.

ii) In the creation of heaven and earth.

2. The Power of God in man’s affairs.

a) There were those who pride themselves.

i) In their knowledge and wisdom.

ii) In their so-called ability to “divine” the future.

iii) Their limited knowledge is rendered “foolishness”.

3. The Power of God in confirming His prophecies.

a) God sent out His prophets:

i) As His servants.

ii) As His messengers.

b) The prophecies:

i) Concerning the return of Israel to inhabit Jerusalem again.

ii) Concerning the rebuilding of the cities of Judah.

iii) God will confirm that these prophecies would be fulfilled.

iv) Even the waste places would be rebuilt into habitable places when God brings back Israel from the Babylonian captivity.
