"I will pour My Spirit on your descendants"
Text: Isaiah 44:3
PROMISE OF WONDERFUL PROVISION
The LORD gave word after uplifting word to Israel. The promise of wonderful provision is not something to be taken for granted!
“‘For I will pour water on him who is thirsty,
And floods on the dry ground;
I will pour My Spirit on your descendants,
And My blessing on your offspring;
They will spring up among the grass
Like willows by the watercourses.’
One will say, ‘I am the LORD’s’;
Another will call himself by the name of Jacob;
Another will write with his hand, ‘The LORD’s,’
And name himself by the name of Israel.”
Isaiah 44:3-5
1. Four blessings promised.
a) Personal blessing.
Water will be given to the thirsty.
b) National blessing.
Floods of water on the dry ground.
c) Spiritual blessing.
The Holy Spirit would be poured out on Israel’s descendants.
d) Family blessing.
God’s personal blessing on offspring.
2. The generation to come.
a) They will spring up:
i) Among the grass that grow quickly.
ii) Like willows by the watercourses.
b) They will be provided for and they can have a great start in life.
3. The declarations of the new generation blessed by God.
a) “I am the LORD’s”.
b) They would be happy to take up ancestral names like:
i) “Jacob”
ii) “Israel”
c) Many will write on the hand proudly, “The LORD’s”.
