"The glory of the LORD shall be revealed"
Text: Isaiah 40:5
THE GLORY OF THE LORD
Glory is intrinsically found in the Person of God. All the attributes of God are full of glory! The revelation of the glory of God was a special manifestation. It took many forms.
“The glory of the LORD shall be revealed,
And all flesh shall see it together;
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”
Isaiah 40:5
1. The Manifestation of the Glory of the LORD.
a) The giving of Manna was an expression of God’s glory (Exodus 16:7).
b) At Mount Sinai when God spoke to Israel (Exodus 19:18).
c) At Mount Sinai when God gave the Covenant with Israel (Exodus 24:16).
d) At Mount Sinai when God proclaimed His name to Moses (Exodus 34:5).
e) At the consecration of the Tabernacle (Exodus 40:34).
2. The Departure of the glory of the LORD.
a) The prophet Ezekiel was given a sad revelation.
b) He saw, “The glory of the LORD departed from the threshold of the temple”
(Ezekiel 10:18).
c) The significance of the departure of the glory of the Lord from the Temple
was indeed very grave.
3. The promise of the revelation of the glory of the LORD.
a) Isaiah was given this wonderful word of promise.
b) The glory of the LORD would once again be revealed to Israel.
c) This was a solemn word spoken directly:
“The mouth of the LORD has spoken”.
d) And this manifestation would be such that “all flesh shall see it”.
e) This glory would be reflected:
i) In the coming of the Messiah.
ii) In the Person of the Messiah.
iii) In the ministry of the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.
