"Search from the book of the LORD"
Text: Isaiah 34:16
GOD’S FAITHFUL CARE FOR HIS CREATURES
The LORD made Man in His image. God also made all living creatures. He would always care for all that He has made. However, when Man sins, He has to uphold justice and judge the unrepentant wicked. Such was the case of the kingdom of Edom. But God continues to take care of all the different creatures that had moved into Edom’s territories.
“Search from the book of the LORD, and read:
Not one of these shall fail;
Not one shall lack her mate.
For My mouth has commanded it, and His Spirit has gathered them.
He has cast the lot for them,
And His hand has divided it among them with a measuring line.
They shall possess it forever;
From generation to generation they shall dwell in it.”
Isaiah 34:16-17
1. The book of the LORD.
a) This may be a reference to the Scriptures.
b) This may also be the Book of Remembrance that God writes.
c) Special reference to this Book (Malachi 3:16; Revelation 22:19).
2. In His Book.
a) God will provide faithfully.
b) Psalm 104 is a Psalm that describes how God provides for all living creatures.
c) God’s command would be fulfilled.
d) The Spirit of God would ensure that God’s commandment would be fulfilled.
3. God’s lines.
a) God is the One who draws the lines for all:
i) Mankind
ii) Sea creatures
iii) Land creatures
iv) Birds of the air
b) They will all possess what God has planned.
i) This is for all generations.
ii) God’s word would be fulfilled.
c) When Edom transgressed against God’s law wickedly, the land that was theirs would be given to the animals and birds.
d) This was God’s divine decree.
