"Their slain shall be thrown out"

Text: Isaiah 34:3

DISASTER OF CATACLYSMIC PROPORTION

This is a prophecy that is deeply unsettling if not frightening. When so many wars break out, the aftermath is terrible!

“Also their slain shall be thrown out;
Their stench shall rise from their corpses,
And the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
All the host of heaven shall be dissolved,
And the heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll;
All their host shall fall down
As the leaf falls from the vine,
And as fruit falling from a fig tree.”
Isaiah 34:3-4

1. Those who are slain.

a) In war, it is inevitable that there would be casualties.

b) The slain would be found everywhere, even in the mountains.

c) There would be so many corpses that a stench would fill the air.

d) A decent burial of the dead would be difficult to come by.

2. A description of the disaster.

a) This would not just be a huge war.

b) This would be Divine judgment.

c) Even the heavens would be affected.

d) The host of heavens would be a description of the planets in the sky.

i) The planets would be dissolved.

ii) The heavens would be “rolled up like a scroll”.

iii) They will fall like dead leaves of a vine.

iv) They will drop like ripe figs.

3. Planetary disaster

a) Many scientists believe that the dinosaurs died because of meteors falling on earth.

b) If the LORD does not sustain the heavenly hosts, the greatest disaster would occur.

c) Earth as we know it would be greatly and adversely affected.
