Day 156

"Blessing from God."

Text: Hebrews 6:7

GOD’S INVOLVEMENT IN NATURE

The Scriptures speak of blessings of God on both man and nature. The following text illustrates this truth.

“For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes down
upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is
cultivated, receives blessings from God.”
Hebrews 6:7

God’s involvement in nature is clearly declared in the Scriptures. In the text above two aspects are mentioned.

1. The creation of “the earth”.

2. The provision of “the rain”.

The involvement of God in nature is stated most clearly in another text.

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there, but water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater.”
Isaiah 55:10

MAN’S PART

While God will do His part, man must not fail to do his part!

1. Man’s part is to cultivate the earth.

2. He must diligently care for the herbs he has planted.

CONSEQUENTIAL BLESSINGS

The involvement of both God and man must have positive consequences.

1. Receives blessing from God

a) God delights to pour out blessings on man and on the earth.
b) The nature of God is characterized by compassion and grace and thus it is easy to believe that God would bless.

2. Bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated

a) Man will plant with clear and definite goals in sight.
b) The herbs planted would give good yields.
