Day 363

"Through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever."

Text: Hebrews 13:21

THE ROLE OF JESUS ACKNOWLEDGED

Once again the role of Jesus was acknowledged. How would we be able to do good works that truly please the God of Peace? The answer is found in the following text.

“Through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever
and ever. Amen.”
Hebrews 13:21d

1. Through Jesus Christ

a) The preposition utilized here is different from the one used in Hebrews 13:20c.
b) There is a subtle difference between the use of these two prepositions:-
i) “En” (Greek) often emphasizes “means by which” {Hebrews 13:20c}.
ii) “Dia” (Greek) often emphasizes “personal agency” {Hebrews 13:21d}.
c) Both are valid.
i) “Through” (“by means”) the blood of the everlasting covenant blessings would be poured out.
ii) “Through” (the personal agency, that is, the personal involvement) Jesus Christ.
d) The focus on the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ must be appreciated.
i) He is actively hearing our prayers as our great High Priest.
ii) He is constantly watching over us as our Great Shepherd.
iii) He is directly and personally involved in our personal life and ministry.

2. To whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

a) This is a short burst of adoration of the Lord Jesus.
b) To think of His personal involvement in our life brought forth this inspired word.
c) Jesus must be given all the glory that the Father has always desired to give to His beloved Son (Cf. Philippians 2:5-11).
d) “Amen” is a fitting conclusion! The writer declares “So let it be!”
