Genesis
Day
Day 28

"The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders; the Lord is over many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty." Psalm 29:3-4

Text: Genesis 7:1-24

HIGH COMMENDATION OF NOAH

We have a number of statements concerning Noah recorded. Let us take time to ponder over these remarks. These comments may be put under two categories:-

1.The Regard of the Author (Moses)

Two clear statements of admiration were made. Moses must have been suitably impressed with the life that Noah possessed in his time.

“Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations.”

GENESIS 6:9b

“Noah walked with God.”

GENESIS 6:9c

2. The Regard of God Himself

This is even more significant, for it came from the Lord Himself! Let us consider what God said to Noah personally.

“Then the Lord said to Noah, ‘Come into the ark,
you and all your household, because I have seen
that you are righteous before Me in this generation.”

GENESIS 7:1

HOW DID NOAH LIVE?

Perhaps the most significant text that well describes how Noah lived may be found in the following statements. Both of these statements are akin to each other.

“Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him,
so he did.”

GENESIS 6:22

“And Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him.”

GENESIS 7:5

What adds significance to the above statements is Noah’s age! The Scriptures noted the advanced age of Noah when he obeyed God. Maturity helped him immensely!

“Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters
were on the earth.”

GENESIS 7:6

1. There was obvious faith in the Lord

Noah believed in God’s word implicitly! He felt that whatever God had promised Him, he would simply comply in all totality!

2. There was total obedience to this great God

If God is indeed God, then we must worship and obey Him as He deserves! Let us divest ourselves of any wayward ideas that threaten to engulf us! May we always be able to respond to the Lord appropriately!
