Genesis
Day
Day 87

"Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name." Psalm 30:4

Text: Text: Genesis 17:1-27

‘I WILL…”

There must not be a single lingering doubt in the heart concerning what the Lord has promised! The very best way to battle doubt would be to feed faith! God sought to help Abraham (his new name) to cultivate his faith by reiterating His promises!

“I WILL make you exceedingly fruitful;
and I WILL make nations of you, and kings
shall come from you. And I WILL establish My covenant
between Me and you and your descendants, after
you in their generations, for an
everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants
after you. Also I give to you and your descendants after you
the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan,
as an everlasting possession; and I WILL be their God.”

GENESIS 17:6-8

Four times over, God spoke to Abraham in such a way, that there should be no doubts whatsoever that He will do all that He had promised!

1. “I WILL make you exceedingly fruitful”

Thus far, Abram had not shown complete and full faith in this word. The last 24 years of barrenness for Sarai had taken a heavy toll on the both of them! There must be a renewal of faith in the Lord concerning His word of promise! Abram must learn to take God at His Word.

2. “I WILL make nations of you and kings shall come from you…”

This will require Abraham to stretch both his imagination and his faith to comprehend what God had promised! The plans of the Lord were always so far-reaching that only a good, strong faith could fathom and believe all that He had said!

3. “I WILL establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants…”

This covenant would extend to Abraham’s posterity! This was a truly profound statement from God! What a word this was!

4. “I WILL be their God…”

What a promise this was! How wise to feed Abraham’s faith through inspiring instruction!

ABRAHAM’S PART

He must take time to dwell on all that the Lord had spoken to him. He must determine to walk blamelessly before El Elyon, God Most High! He must not so easily disappoint El Shaddai, Almighty God who had once again spoken to him. What a God Abraham had! What promises He had given to Abraham to feed His faith!
