"O foolish Galatians!"

Text: Galatians 3:1a

LAMENTING SPIRITUAL FOOLISHNESS

The apostle Paul greatly lamented the foolishness he saw in the Galatians. He wrote very candidly to them concerning how he felt.

O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you
that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes
Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?

2. The point about “obedience”

a) Faith in Christ is the starting point.
b) Following Jesus as a disciple should be the next logical step.
c) The Lordship of Christ should be established.

ii) Obedience is the appropriate response of the believer.

3. “O foolish Galatians”

b) These had been clearly taught.
c) The apostles had also shown them by example how they should live for the Lord in obedience.

4. “Who has bewitched you?”

a) This is a figure of speech.
b) Spells of witches are not in mind here in this text!
c) Paul strongly laments that the Galatians were in danger of departing from their faith in Christ.
