"My sacrificial meal"

Text: Ezekiel 39:17

A SPECIAL SACRIFICIAL MEAL

Ezekiel was once instructed to speak to dry bones (Ezekiel 37). He was now instructed to speak to birds of the air and beasts of the field. He was to invite them to a special sacrificial meal that was made for them by the Lord!

“And as for you, son of man, thus says the Lord God,
‘Speak to every sort of bird and to every beast of the field:
‘Assemble yourselves and come;
Gather together from all sides to My sacrificial meal
Which I am sacrificing for you,
A great sacrificial meal on the mountains of Israel,
That you may eat flesh and drink blood.
You shall eat the flesh of the mighty,
Drink the blood of the princes of the earth,
Of rams and lambs,
Of goats and bulls,
All of them fatlings of Bashan.
You shall eat fat till you are full,
And drink blood till you are drunk,
At My sacrificial meal
Which I am sacrificing for you.
You shall be filled at My table
With horses and riders,
With mighty men
And with all the men of war,’ says the Lord God.'”
Ezekiel 39:17-20

1. The guests of this sacrificial meal.

a) Scavenger birds.

b) All carnivorous beasts.

2. The host of this sacrificial meal.

a) The Lord God of Israel.

b) He is the One who has prepared this feast for all the birds and beasts.

3. Food and drink.

a) The food.

i) The flesh of the mighty warriors (men of war).

ii) Rams and lambs.

iii) Goats and bulls.

iv) Fatlings of Bashan.

v) Horses

b) Their drink.

i) The blood of the multitude of Gog.

ii) The blood of the animals.

4. Fullness promised.

a) All the birds and beasts may feast to their heart’s content.

b) No matter how ravenous they may be, they would have more than enough to consume.
