"To take plunder and to take booty"

Text: Ezekiel 38:12

THE EVIL PLAN OF GOG

Gog’s plans were clear to the Lord. Gog of Magog was planning to attack and plunder Israel. There was no way in which Gog could have kept his plans from God.

“To take plunder and to take booty,
to stretch out your hand against
the waste places that are again inhabited,
and against a people gathered from the nations,
who have acquired livestock and goods,
who dwell in the midst of the land.
Sheba, Dedan, the merchants of Tarshish,
and all their young lions will say to you,
‘Have you come to take plunder?
Have you gathered your army to take booty,
to carry away silver and gold,
to take away livestock and goods,
to take great plunder?'”
Ezekiel 38:12-13

1. Gog’s evil plan.

a) To take plunder.

c) To stretch out his hand against inhabited Israel.

d) Israel was described as a people gathered from the nations.

e) Israel had been successful:

i) In acquiring livestock.

ii) In acquiring goods.

f) Israel had established a stable existence in their homeland.

g) The people were no longer diaspora.

2. The allies of Gog of Magog.

a) Sheba and Dedan.

b) The merchants of Tarshish.

c) These and others were described as “young lions”.

3. The query of the allies.

a) Had Gog planned to plunder Israel?

b) Had he gathered an army to do the following?

i) To take booty?

ii) To carry away silver and gold?

iii) To take away livestock and goods?

iv) To take great plunder?

c) These allies needed to know Gog’s plans.
They did not have much experience for they were only “young lions”.
