"You will ascend, coming like a storm"

Text: Ezekiel 38:9

ADDRESSING GOG OF MAGOG

In this text, God addresses Gog of Magog. The word that God gives reveals the fact that God knew exactly what Gog would do. God was always in control.

“Prepare yourself and be ready,
you and all your companies that are gathered about you;
and be a guard for them.
After many days you will be visited.
In the latter years you will come into the land
of those brought back from the sword
and gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel,
which had long been desolate;
they were brought out of the nations,
and now all of them dwell safely.
You will ascend, coming like a storm,
covering the land like a cloud,
you and all your troops and many peoples with you.”
Ezekiel 38:7-9

1. Gog and its many allies

a) Gog will prepare and make all the troops ready for invasion.

b) Gog’s role is that of a leader among the nations that had gathered together.

c) Gog would be their “guard”.

d) The process of building a huge army would take some years.

2. The land they would be attacking

a) They were people who had been brought back from other lands.

b) The people had now inhabited the mountains of Israel.

i) The Israel had been desolate for many years.

ii) The Lord had brought them back with His divine hand.

iii) They had become a nation once again with their own land.

iv) They had been dwelling safely in their homeland.

3. Gog and its allies will attack Israel

a) They will come up like a storm against Israel.

b) They will come with many troops to try and conquer the land of Israel.

c) Their plans were being revealed by God to Ezekiel prophetically.
