Day 386

"And bring you into your own land"

Text: Ezekiel 36:24

GOD’S PLAN REVEALED

God’s plan was revealed to Ezekiel, a faithful prophet. The work that God do would be gloriously accomplished. The motivation behind this great plan of God was for the sake of His own great and holy name!

“For I will take you from among the nations,
gather you out of all countries,
and bring you into your own land.
Then I will sprinkle clean water on you,
and you shall be clean;
I will cleanse you from all your filthiness
and from all your idols.”
Ezekiel 36:24-25

1. Gathering all the exiled children of Israel.

a) The children of Israel were scattered far and wide.

b) The Assyrian and Babylonian empires saw them disperse Israel in many countries.

c) Humanly, this would be an impossible task to attempt and to accomplish.

2. Bringing back to their own homeland.

a) This would be a phenomenal feat.

b) God would have to make sure they have a land to return to.

c) He would have to cause their hearts to desire to return home to Israel.

d) Some may be reluctant to leave their homes and professions in foreign countries.

e) Some others had bad memories of the past in their homeland where many were oppressed by wicked rulers.

f) God would have to change hearts and minds drastically.

3. Cleansing of the children of Israel.

a) God would have to cleanse the children of Israel from their sinful ways.

b) Having been abroad for many years, the influence from the world had already affected the people adversely.

c) Many would have become secular and worldly.

d) Some would have almost entirely forgotten the God of their forefathers.

e) God has to sprinkle them clean:

i) From their sinful ways.

ii) From idolatry.

f) Only God can attempt and accomplish this great plan of restoration.
